CHAT
BOT MENU ICON
BRIEF
The chatbot pop up on site didn’t have a clear option to refresh the chat after customers interacted with the chat. To create a better customer journey, my ask was to create an icon to represent the “back to menu” refresh anchor link, for a more intuitive interface.
IDEATION
I discussed the scope of the brief with the project owner, to decipher the needs of the task. Then, I reviewed existing Dyson iconography to understand what was expected and to maintain continuity with the existing brand guidelines.

I started sketching designs on the theme of ‘home’ and ‘menu refresh’. Choosing the ones that I felt were most intuitive. When choosing my icons to take forward I chose symbols that would be familiar to the average user, while keeping the designs details minimal to ensure it’ll be legible at any size.

Using my sketches as reference I generated several rough digital copies in Adobe Illustrator, which were sent over for review.

SOLUTION
The brief owner communicated her preferences with minor tweaks; It hadn’t been communicated in the spec that the designs needed to be held in a purple circle, on a transparent PNG background. Although, I was quickly able to amend the existing icons to this specification, which was then signed off for use and sent to the build team.
REVIEW
Overall, I was pleased by the process, and I was able to complete the icons within a quick handover/timeframe. I found that the initial ideation process to generate ideas works well for me, while my head is in a creative space, I’m able to develop “a lot of ideas”.
