FESTIVE
EMAIL

BRIEF

I was tasked to design the global festive emails for Dyson’s 2022 Christmas campaign. I was briefed to generate email designs for three marketing emails and an informative email for customers who didn’t sign up for marketing communications.

IDEATION

I began by reviewing the brief guidelines and highlighting important information and direction from the brief owner. I formatted this into a working plan for the emails. After creating a narrative for the emails I briefed in a copy writer to begin creating the content. I was able to supply the copy writer with a lowfi wireframe designs of the template, to enable her to have context for her requirements.

To create the initial wireframe, I looked to prior emails for guidance, deciding which aspects would most effectively portray the information clearly.

My main initiative was to create a design that would have adaptable layouts built from stackable modules, which could be personalised for different marketplace needs. As warm climates would have different requirements to colder climates, alternative modules were also supplied in the handover kit.

While the copy writer created the written content,

I searched in the image library for images to populate the emails and relevant website links to attach to the emails.

SOLUTION

Finally, I worked with someone in the build team to create the emails by exporting the assets, and putting together a hand over document in Sketch which reviewed the CTA journey, asset content and alternative modules.

REVIEW

This project brought me a lot of job satisfaction, as the emails were used internationally and would have been viewed by large audiences, with the email campaign generating £7m in revenue. Also, I was proud of the end result, and enjoyed working within the team as everyone’s roles were clearly defined, which allowed us to work efficiently despite the tight deadline. Despite the large workload for this task, I managed to effectively coordinate with my co-workers and deliver the project on time.
